What’s Coming Up In The State Of The Union Address

So what can we expect from the President’s 2014 State of the Union Address? Well first of all more support for Obamacare and some ridiculous statistics which are mere guesses. And of course a whole bunch of big government solutions to every problem.

Then I think we will see a whole section on income inequality couched in terms of “opportunity” – just like taxes are “investments.” The problem is that Obama is causing the inequality.

But the most dangerous part of his speech will be the fact that he is going to bypass Congress and the Constitution and govern directly by executive orders. This is most unprecedented. Is this not the way ancient Rome went from a Republic to an Empire? So we are on the path of transforming the Presidency to an Emperor?

From the beginning Obama has shown a distaste for politics – for the hard work of negotiating, for the art of giving up something to get something. Because he is a doctrinaire ideologue he won’t compromise. But what he will do is talk about a do nothing Congress and Republicans not willing to work with him. Well working with him means acquiescing to his point of view. Republicans have their vision and their programs and they have every right to try to institute what they believe in. Maybe it is really the President who is not willing to work with Republicans.

The Obama administration released the text of Tuesday’s State of the Union Address, anticipating a huge response.  It is certainly yet another stunning piece of rhetorical genius that we have come to expect.

Usually kept a secret until it is actually delivered, it is assumed that it will be received unlike any other speech the President has given. Our sources have leaked the following working document:

“My fellow Americans blah blah blah blah blah blah ME blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah ME blah blah blah blah ME blah blah blah blah GOVERNMENT MUST blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah  blah blah EVIL TEA PARTY blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah LET ME BE CLEAR blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah EVIL REPUBLICANS blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah TAXES ARE TOO LOW blah blah blah blah blah blah blah I SUPPORT ISRAEL blah blah blah blah INCOME INEQUALITY blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah NEW IDEAS blah blah blah blah blah blah blah EVIL RICH blah blah blah blah OBAMACARE IS WORKING blah blah blah blah blah blah I blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah ME blah blah ME blah blah blah blah blah blah (LONG PAUSE) blah  blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah OBAMACARE IS WORKING blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah  GOVERNMENT CAN blah blah blah blah blah blah blah YOU NEED ME blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah I WILL DO WHAT I WANT IN-SPITE OF CONGRESSblah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah CARING blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah CHANGE blah blah blah blah blah blah blah TOMORROW WILL BE GREAT blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah (REPEAT 259 TIMES)”

Fairly accurate, ey?

On a more serious note, we’ve heard the campaign speeches, we’ve heard the interviews, we’ve heard the press conferences and we’ve heard all of the previous State of the Unions, yet we continue to be mislead time and time again.

Here are a few facts you’re not likely to hear:

  • The poverty rate has increased from 13.2% to 15% since I’ve been president.
  • The top 1% have made 95% of the income gains on my watch.
  • 3.9 million Americans are struggling with long-term unemployment.
  • Millions have dropped out of the labor force, which is now at a low since 1978.
  • 19.4 million more people are now on food stamps than when I took office.
  • $7 trillion dollars in debt has been added on my watch. I once called adding $4 trillion “unpatriotic” and “irresponsible.” But that was George W. Bush, after all.

What the American people would like to hear is that you hear us. We aren’t stupid, and we can see that ObamaCare isn’t working, the workforce is shrinking, and things aren’t as good as you try to make them seem. It’s really obvious, because, well…facts.

Our best interests do not involve raising taxes on the middle class (payroll tax), kicking people off of their insurance, spying on us, letting gun-walking operations run amok, or allowing poor leadership to result in the deaths of American diplomats.

Even though you continue to make your political enemies out as racists and haters of the poor, they’re not, and we know they’re not. We hope that you can wake up and realize that there are people who disagree with you who represent a large portion of America, and you’re supposed to represent everyone, not just your party.

Unfortunately, after five years of hearing the exact same excuses for our nation’s problems, we won’t be setting our expectations very high. (1)
