If we are going to turn this country around and undo some of the harm eight years of Obama has done, then our next President needs to be a Conservative Constitutionalist.
One of the problems with Trump is that he is not a Conservative. OH, he’s probably not a Liberal either although he used to be for Socialized Medicine and Abortion and he has contributed to the political campaigns of Bill and Hillary Clinton along with a number of New York Democrats.
Trump did what we used to call “greasing the skids,” bribing those in power. And if he could get away with it he bought politicians so he could get what he wanted in the business world. Does that make him more like Ronald Reagan or Richard Nixon?
Let’s take a look at a personal profile:
- A Narcissist
- Mean Streak
- Callous and insensitive
- Ambushes and humiliates people
- Enjoys belittling others
- Supercilious visions of grandeur
When Trump is out on the stump making speeches, notice how he is never specific in his prescriptions for fixing our problems. It’s all about me, me, me. He will do it.
Beware of the cult of the know it all, do it all leader or you may end up in a place like Jonestown and your country may become a Third World Nation overnight.
Can we survive eight more years (16 total in all) of Obama under Hillary Clinton as President? Probably not. But I’m not so sure trading in one narcissistic egomaniac for another is good for the country either. Oh, we may get more decisions going our way. But in the process, we may bury the Constitution forever.
What has kept this nation from totalitarian rule and adherence to the rule of law is that document – our US Constitution – and our adherence to it until Barrack Obama thumbed his nose at it completely. If we elect another President who ignores the Constitution for “the good of the country,” we will never get back our rule of law and the checks and balances of our Constitutional Republic.”
Trump is a bomb thrower, which can be a good thing, like now. A bomb thrower will bring up issues that career politicians are afraid to lest they offend some voters. A bomb thrower doesn’t care about offending and sees his or her strength in saying what a majority of the people are just thinking. But a bomb thrower cannot effectively govern a nation, especially one as large as the United States.
There is no assurance that President Trump would not operate by Executive order. There is no track record of him being a Conservative. The Lexington Libertarian understands how angry voters are with the Republican Party leadership. But when a nation allows itself to be governed by the cult of its leader then principles and limitations on power go out the window.
As the Lexington Libertarian said at the beginning of this article, what we need in the White House is a Constitutional Conservative who will stand up to the Left and do battle. The person that comes closest to filling the bill is Ted Cruz.
