Hillary Clinton For-profit Education Scandal Dwarfs Donald Trump University

Bill and Hillary Clinton’s attack on Donald Trump over Trump University could invite increased scrutiny of the Clintons’ involvement in a for-profit education scandal in which a company that runs shell colleges paid Bill Clinton $16.5 million to be its pitchman.

While the Clintons were collecting millions, Hillary Clinton’s State Department funneled at least $55 million to a group run by the college company, Laureate Education Inc., according to Peter Schweizer’s book “Clinton Cash” as Breitbart reported.

Laureate Colleges have been deemed over priced under valued centers of learning that provided substandard education. They often prey on South American and other foreign students.  Numerous lawsuits have been filed against this education group. The fact that the Clintons have acted as shills for this college network is not being reported in the media. HAVE YOU SEEN THIS STORY IN THE MEDIA? THE TRADITIONAL MEDIA WILL NOT REPORT ANYTHING THAT PUTS THEIR FAVORED CANDIDATES IN A BAD LIGHT UNLESS THEY ABSOLUTELY HAVE TO.

American Thinker reports:

In view of the intense focus on the Trump University lawsuit by the MSM and lack of inquiry by the same MSM on Laureate Education, it seemed worthwhile to look at Laureate-affiliated schools of higher education located in the U.S., Latin America, and elsewhere.  Bill Clinton served as honorary chancellor for Laureate from 2010 until 2015, and he was paid $16.5 million.  (Clinton Cashauthor Peter Schweizer points out a connection between Laureate chairman Douglas Becker and increased USAID funding to a non-profit Becker also chaired, the International Youth Federation, while Hillary was secretary of state.)

Walden_Seal_Color_200pxWalden University is an affiliate of for-profit Laureate Education, and it has a history of problems.

An audit by the Department of Education (DOE) shows that online Walden University gave over $300,000 in student loans to non-citizens (which is against the law) from 2005 to 2008.  More recently, Walden ran afoul of the handling of student loan funds for students who had withdrawn, and the DOE is now taking a closer look at Walden.  Any adverse decisions by the DOE against Walden could seriously damage Walden’s funding model of relying heavily on student loans for revenue.  Overall, Laureate’s U.S. institutions received $461 million in student loan revenue in calendar year 2014.

Walden University is also subject to a class action lawsuit according to SECfilings:

In January 2015, two students filed suit against us [Laureate] and Walden University, seeking class action status and alleging claims for breach of contract and unjust enrichment and violations of the Maryland and Illinois consumer protection laws and California unfair competition law related to the students’ doctoral dissertation and master’s thesis processes.

I don’t recall seeing any MSM outrage over this lawsuit.

Walden offers a masters degree in science education, and a review by the Education Department concludes that it does not measure up:

The program, while a noble attempt at a completely online Master’s degree, falls short in the scientific and academic rigor one would expect at the Master’s level.

This lack of rigor will likely be part of the lawsuit.

The Laureate schools are heavily regulated by the U.S. government, since they receive millions of dollars in student loan funds.  They are also regulated by other countries in which Laureate does business.  In this context, it makes sense for Laureate to put Bill on the payroll as “honorary chancellor” to give Laureate some credibility both in the U.S. and globally.

Nikitas3 reports:

Laureate Universities is Newest Clinton Scandal

The leftist media have attacked Donald Trump relentlessly over Trump University, a small real estate school which has been defunct since 2011 and had a total of only 5,000 students during 6 years of operation.

On the other hand the same media are ignoring a shady $4 billion global educational conglomerate called Laureate International Universities that has peddled, and is peddling questionable or useless and very expensive degrees to millions of students, including many students in poor countries. And Laureate is closely tied to… you guessed it… Bill and Hillary Clinton.

In 2014 Laureate had campuses in 30 countries and 800,000 students. Laureate is an outgrowth of something called Sylvan Learning Systems, a “for-profit” educational company.

In other words Laureate dwarfs Trump University by a factor of about 1,000 to 1 and the Clintons are up to their necks in Laureate, even using federal funds, diverted by Hillary as secretary of state, to enrich Laureate.

This comes after Hillary Clinton once criticized the federal government for “subsidizing a for-profit (educational) industry that is ripping off young people.” In fact all liberals regularly trash these so-called “for profit” schools… unless liberals run them, that is. And Laureate is run out of Baltimore USA by hard-core Democrats who are Clinton cronies.

Bill Clinton took more than $16 million total in salary as an “honorary chancellor” for Laureate starting in 2010. He made appearances and speeches on behalf of the school but quickly resigned his post after his involvement with Laureate was exposed in 2015.

Friends, Laureate is just an extension of a global educational monstrosity controlled by the socialist left that rips off tens of millions of students nationwide and worldwide, even at established universities, and leaves them saddled with debt for life with worthless degrees while the university professors and elites like Bill Clinton live like kings.

Here are excerpts from Jerome Corsi writing on World Net Daily (WND.com) about the Clintons’ involvement with Laureate, with a Nikitas3.com comment after each:

Corsi writes on WND.com: Hillary Clinton’s State Department funneled at least $55 million to a group run by the college company, Laureate Education Inc., according to Peter Schweizer’s book Clinton CashNikitas3.com comment: We have no idea what the real story is behind Laureate because the media are too busy caterwauling about ‘global warming’ and the oil companies and Donald Trump to bother with Laureate. If the media really investigated Laureate then Hillary Clinton would have yet another major scandal to deal with. Fortunately Schweizer and Corsi are willing to look into this disgrace.

Corsi writes on WND.com: Documents uncovered by Washington-based watchdog Judicial Watch show Laureate Education paid (Bill Clinton) through a “shell corporation” pass-through account that evidently passed State Department scrutiny while Hillary was secretary of state. Nikitas3.com comment: This is classic Clintons. Everything is hushed up or covered up or done in the shadows because the Clintons are corrupt in virtually everything that they do. But since their media cronies cover for them those of us with questions are maligned and called conspiracy theorists.

Corsi writes on WND.com: Further, in a story showing how for-profit colleges encourage huge student debt, Forbes (magazine) found the biggest borrower on the for-profit college list is Laureate Education’s Walden University, whose grad students borrowed $756 million in 2014. Nikitas3.com comment: That’s $756 million in just one year for just one department of one part of Laureate. That is a stunning figure. And much of that has been taxpayer loans that enriched Laureate while leaving the students with big debts. Then taxpayers often get stuck with the bill as students default on the loans. This is just another transfer of wealth from the taxpayers to the socialist elite with no regard for the negative impact that it is having.

Corsi writes on WND.com: The Washington Post in a 2014 story described the boiler room telemarketing techniques used to entice students into enrolling. “Inside a building on a narrow Rio de Janeiro (Brazil) street, nine telemarketers sit in small cubicles, talking frenetically into headsets as scripts scroll across their computer screens,” wrote reporters Mina Kimes and Michael Smith for the newspaper. “On an October morning, these salespeople are urging high school seniors to attend Centro Universitário IBMR, a for-profit university.

Nikitas3.com comment: These are typical socialists. They are pushing Walden and Laureate onto students in poor nations like Brazil, kids who are often desperate for a better future. If these were telemarketers trying to sell frozen food to Americans then these telemarketing operations would be subject to endless media objections, government scrutiny and left-wing public protests. But not a peep about Laureate since it is a left-wing institution.

Corsi writes on WND.com: The newspaper further noted that by the time Laureate Education was taken private in 2007, in a $3.8 billion management leveraged buy-out, the company with $4 billion in annual revenue and 800,000 students could lay claim to being the largest U.S. for-profit college then in operation. Nikitas3.com comment: Trump University had just 5,000 students over just 6 years of existence, or an average of 833 students per year, or about .1% of the number of students as Laureate. Yet stories about Trump University are all over the media while Laureate is being ignored and will continue to be ignored. Which sounds about right – conservatives get 1,000 times the scrutiny of liberals.

Corsi writes on WND.com: But, as Forbes (magazine) pointed out in its July 12, 2015 story, Laureate Education’s Walden University was built by inducing prospective students to incur massive tuition debt to attend a school with no academic reputation and virtually no standards for admission other than ability to pay. Nikitas3.com comment: Laureate is exploiting young people by the millions but Laureate does not care, just as American universities don’t care that they are exploiting millions of young Americans and their families with outrageous tuition costs and useless degrees.

Corsi writes on WND.com: The Miami Herald reported that since 2010, Bill Clinton has been paid more than $16 million to serve as “honorary chancellor” of Laureate Education. “The firm is being sued by several online graduate students for allegedly dishonest practices, and a 2012 U.S Senate report found that more than half of Laureate’s online Walden University revenue went to marketing and profit,” the Miami Herald noted.Nikitas3.com comment: More than 50% for marketing and profit… It is amazing how greedy these schools are just as our American universities are charging $50K or $60K a year. The oil companies meanwhile are selling us gasoline and heating oil at historic low prices while the oil companies are relentlessly trashed in the same universities and media that now will ignore Laureate. If Donald Trump were involved in Laureate it would be a major scandal.

Corsi writes on WND.com: In October 2015, Judicial Watch released 789 pages of State Department ethics review documents concerning Secretary of State Hillary Clinton that included a copy of Bill Clinton’s May 1, 2010, draft consulting agreement dated with Laureate Education, which had been submitted for ethics review by the State Department. The document revealed Bill Clinton was being paid through a “shell corporation” pass-through account, WJC LLC, designed to keep consulting fees paid Clinton off the books of the Clinton Foundation. It allowed Clinton to avoid disclosing the existence of the shell company even to the IRS, as long as compensation payments to him were withdrawn as soon as they were deposited, ensuring the account always showed a zero balance.

Nikitas3.com comment: The Clintons are constantly involved in this type of devious stuff, from Whitewater on. Remember when Hillary miraculously earned $100,000 overnight on her investment in cattle futures? Today the Clintons are personally worth more than $125 million, never mind billions that they have at their disposal in their foundation and ‘global initiative’. Meanwhile “rich Republican” George W. Bush is worth about $25 million. Ronald Reagan today would be worth $13 million, yet he too was described as a “rich Republican”. Democrat Al Gore today is worth more than $200 million. Secretary of state John Kerry is worth more than $1 billion … through his rich heiress wife, that is. If he hadn’t married her Kerry would be worth almost nothing.

Corsi writes on WND.com: Stephen Braun of the Associated Press broke the news of Bill Clinton’s shell company on May 26, 2015. Braun reported Doug Band at Teneo made ready use to the WJC LLC bank account to pay Bill Clinton on the side for lucrative business dealings the Clintons wanted to keep out of audited financial statements and IRS Form 990s prepared for the Clinton Foundation. Braun reported that in February 2009, Band asked State Department ethics officials to clear Bill Clinton’s consulting work for three companies owned by influential Democratic Party donors.

Nikitas3.com comment: Bill and Hillary Clinton are two of the world’s most notorious scam artists. Almost everything they do is “pay for play”, i.e., if you pay enough into something like their slush fund called the Clinton Foundation they will help you out. It is pure economic cronyism.

These Clintons never stop thinking about ways to get money. Imagine that… $16 million for giving a few dozen speeches and appearances over 5 years on behalf of Laureate. Then the Clintons claim that they are liberals who are “for the people” precisely as they steal “from the people”. This is socialism writ large – the total opposite of what it claims.

Pay for play? It is everywhere in the Clinton playbook. Here is ibtimes.com (International Business Times) on May 26, 2015 about Hillary and the State Department in 2011:

Even by the standards of arms deals between the United States and Saudi Arabia, this one was enormous. A consortium of American defense contractors led by Boeing would deliver $29 billion worth of advanced fighter jets to the United States’ oil-rich ally in the Middle East.

Israeli officials were agitated, reportedly complaining to the Obama administration that this substantial enhancement to Saudi air power risked disrupting the region’s fragile balance of power. The deal appeared to collide with the State Department’s documented concerns about the repressive policies of the Saudi royal family.

But now, in late 2011, Hillary Clinton’s State Department was formally clearing the sale, asserting that it was in the national interest. At press conferences in Washington to announce the department’s approval, an assistant secretary of state, Andrew Shapiro, declared that the deal had been “a top priority” for Clinton personally. Shapiro, a longtime aide to Clinton since her Senate days, added that the “U.S. Air Force and U.S. Army have excellent relationships in Saudi Arabia.”

These were not the only relationships bridging leaders of the two nations. In the years before Hillary Clinton became secretary of state, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia contributed at least $10 million to the Clinton Foundation, the philanthropic enterprise she has overseen with her husband, former president Bill Clinton. Just two months before the deal was finalized, Boeing — the defense contractor that manufactures one of the fighter jets the Saudis were especially keen to acquire, the F-15 — contributed $900,000 to the Clinton Foundation, according to a company press release.

The Saudi deal was one of dozens of arms sales approved by Hillary Clinton’s State Department that placed weapons in the hands of governments that had also donated money to the Clinton family philanthropic empire, an International Business Times investigation has found.

Corsi writes on WND.com about Laureate Universities: Noting that Laureate was “ensnarled in controversy all over the globe,” (Daily Caller education editor Eric) Owens speculated the secret sum Becker was paying Bill Clinton had to be considerable to get him “to hawk” the company worldwide. Owens further noted that Hillary Clinton “helped legitimize Laureate in the eyes of the world by making the for-profit education behemoth part of her State Department Global Partnership.” Nikitas3.com comment: Once again the Clintons have exploited a government position for personal profit and for the profit of friends. This is really the heart of what socialism is all about. If any Republican had done 1% of this he/she would be run out office, as they are trying to do to Trump with Trump University.

Corsi writes on WND.com: A Laureate Educational press release in 2013 announced that its schools were scheduled to begin live broadcasts of the Clinton Global Initiative (CGI) annual meeting, with more than 45,000 Laureate students scheduled to hear presentations by President Obama, rock star Bono and Archbishop Desmond Tutu.Nikitas3.com comment: Imagine your kid’s school featuring a dopey rock musician like Bono as a speaker, or Desmond Tutu who presided over the economic and social collapse of South Africa under black communist rule, or Obama who has presided over the collapse of the American economy, which recently reported a pathetic 38,000 jobs added in May. Since these are the role models for Laureate then its students should not be surprised to end up with nothing. It is classic socialism – the elites get richer and everyone else gets poorer.
