Speaking of surveillance of Trump Tower
The Left was quick to discredit anything of the sort, and even some in the Republican Party have condemned the accusation. However, Devin Nunes, Chair of the House Intelligence Committee, has recently confirmed that the outgoing Obama administration did engage in surveillance of the Trump transition team.
The confirmation was first reported by Politico:
Members of the Donald Trump transition team, possibly including Trump himself, were under surveillance during the Obama administration following November’s election, House Intelligence Chairman Devin Nunes told reporters Wednesday.
Nunes said the surveillance appears to have been legal, incidental collection and that it does not appear to have been related to concerns over collusion with Russia.
Nunes is going to the White House later Wednesday to brief the Trump administration on what he has learned, which he said came from “sources.”
The question now is why exactly the transition team, and even Trump himself, were tapped. Was it a political retaliation? That wouldn’t be unprecedented at all…
To me, this confirmation is not really all that surprising. After all, President Obama oversaw the largest expansion of dragnet surveillance on American citizen in U.S. history; all without required Constitutional due process, mind you.
And we’re expected to think that Trump was not put under surveillance? Forgive me if I’m not buying that.
